Time & Love
The day is a hole which the night flows into.
the night, she is a vessel that the day overflows.
When you've seen behind the masque you'll begin
To find a face of God nobody knows
And I wonder about the flow of history.
And I wonder about the pace of change.
And I wonder about those we follow, and those we lead,
And all the lives that we rearrange.
And I find love is hard to swallow.
The more that you can love the more you gain.
But when yesterdays steal away tomorrows,
The narrower becomes the line between love and pain.
And I wonder, So many people crying.
And I wonder, So many people gone.
And I wonder how we keep trying where we find the strength
To face the day, and somehow carry on.
Time, seems to slip away behind us.
And love, if all too often just slips away.
And in the end our time will find us.
The best that we can do is help along the way.
And I wonder about God in heaven.
And I wonder about man on Earth.
And I wonder, who pays attention
Who adds it up? Who decides what our lives were worth?
The day is a hole that the night flows into.
The day is a hole.
