Beliefs
Beliefs are a veil we hold before our eyes that
colors whatever we see.
Some things we call truth. We say that others are lies. It depends
what we need them to be.
Just depends what we need them to be.
Many a young man has run mighty wild. The tears
that their poor mothers cried.
When challenged change, they reply with a smile that they will,
and they learn how to hide.
It’s a change when you learn how to hide.
Religions all tell us to lie is a sin. Keep truth
in the things that you say.
But we lie to ourselves. Look at the shape that we're in. And
seems to get worse everyday.
We choose most of our friends based on what they
believe, and together we see that we’re right. We can deal with
our doubts or we can feel we’re deceived and go chasing our ghosts
in the night. Chasing our ghosts in the night.
Labels for others with different views. We may even
think that they’re fools.
When all that we know is what we read in the news. Surely that’s
breaking some rules.
Surely that’s breaking the rules.
We know in our hearts we should believe in ourselves.
We’re deserving of each other’s love.
Sometimes it seems easier to believe in elves, than in mercy and
strength from above.
There’s mercy and strength from above, and undying love.
